2020-2024 Commissioners

The Naabik'i yati' Committee of the 24th Navajo Nation Council confirmed NNHRC Commissioner Dr. Jennifer Denetdale representing the Education sector on October 8, 2020. Commissioners Steven Darden representing the Business sector and Commissioner Cora Phillips representing the Social Service sector was confirmed by Naabik'i yati' Committee of the 24th Navajo Nation Council on October 16, 2020. In Novmeber 2020, the Naabik'i yati' Committee of the 24th Navajo Nation Council confirmed NNHRC Commissioner Frank Adakai, representing the Law Enforcement secton. During the May 7, 2021 regular commission meeting, Resolution NNHRCMAY-06-21 Removing Mr. Frank Adakai from the Navajo Nation Human Rights Commission was approved by vote, 2 infavor and 0 opposed. Mr. Adaki removal was effective immediately and the current vacant Commission seats are Law Enforcement and At Large. In December 2021, the Naabik'i yati' Committee of the 24th Navajo Nation Council confirmed NNHRC Commissioner Henrietta Sandoval-Soland representing the Law Enforcement sector and Commissioner Steven C. Begay representing the At-large sector. In July 2023, Commissioner Henrietta Sandoval-Soland, resigned from her postion as commissioner. Currently the Law Enformacement Commission seat remains vacant.

2016-2020 Commissioners

In 2016, the Naabik'i yati' Committee of the 23rd Navajo Nation Council confirmed NNHRC Commissioners on September 22, 2016. Carl Smith representing the Social Service sector, Henrietta Sandoval-Soland representing the Law Enforcement sector, Dr. Jennifer Denetdale representing the Education sector, and Steve A. Darden representing the Business sector. In October 2016, the Naabik'i yati' Committee of the 23rd Navajo Nation Council confirmed NNHRC Commissioner Michelle Cook, representing the At-Large sector. In 2019 Commissioner Carl Smith resigned his postion and Cora Maxx-Phillips was appointed by 24th Navajo Nation Council to represent the Social Service Commission seat, Ms. Phillips was confirmed in September, 2019. NNHRC past Commissioners served out their four year term as of September 30, 2020.

In 2012, the Naabik'i yati' Committee of the 22nd Navajo Nation Council confirmed NNHRC Commissioners on September 28, 2012. Valerie Kelly represented the Social Service sector, Frank Bradley III represented the Law Enforcement sector, Justin F. Tsosie represented the At-large sector, Dr. Jennifer Rose Denetdale represented the Education sector, and Steve A. Darden represented the Business sector. NNHRC past Commissioners served out their four year term as of July 30, 2016.
